All Week Long...

White Tee Event

In 2009 the Sterling Farms Men's Club, for the first time, will be hosting an event all week long! We will host a week long white tee event in conjunction with our weekend event almost every week of the golfing season. The event starts on Monday morning and ends Sunday evening. The format for the week is the same as the upcoming weekend event (shown here). The results will be scored along with our normal weekend event.

Background

In the past we have had a White Tee Flight during our normal weekend event that anyone could sign up for regardless of handicap. This Flight has traditionally had the least amount of participation from our members as most of our members play from the blue tees.

Over the years we consistently lose competitive members from the Men's Club. One major reason is because retired, semi-retired and self-employed members usually play during the week. Playing during the week allows them to play with their same foursome around the same time and on the same day each week.

In the past we have not given these members the opportunity to compete during the week. In 2009 we are finally giving them this chance.

Beta Test in 2009

The Club is committed to try out the white tee week long event throughout the 2009 season. We are hoping that through our marketing efforts at Sterling Farms and through word of mouth that we will build participation in this event throughout the year.

Sign Up Only Once

Each week our members are only allowed to sign up for 1 weekend or white tee event. A member cannot participate in the white tee event during the week and then sign up in their flight for the weekend event. Anyone who signs up twice in the same week will be disqualified from both of that weeks events.

Why Not A Blue Tee Week Long Event?

We have never had a week long blue tee event. The reason for this is due to the inequitable tee position during the week versus the weekend. Traditionally the blue tees are set up in an easier location from Monday to Thursday. On Friday morning they are moved to a more difficult position. This would consistently give those members playing during the week an unfair advantage over those playing during the weekend.

The white tee positions, even when moved, are set up in a much more equitable position during the week and on the weekends.
